At MAVO, rice husks and earth form gestural figures evoking the Mondine—women laborers of Vercelli’s rice fields—whose songs and actions inscribed fields as spaces of dissent and unarchived resistance. Transparent textiles, objects, and biomimetic materials articulate counter-narratives where intangible oral histories, non-human witnesses, and ecological traces challenge hierarchies of preservation and rewrite dominant narratives.
